Dave Kwok, Principal
Hi! I’m Dave. For many years of my life, grim self-discipline was my only self-improvement tool. Not only was it marginally effective, it drained my soul. I was in my late 20s before I was exposed to professional coaching, and for the past 20 years I’ve benefitted from the focused attention of wise counselors: executive coaches, spiritual directors and therapists. I am so grateful for the space they created for me to articulate and nurture my inner life. Through these experiences, I have slowly learned that meaningful change starts from the inside-out and requires gentle nurturing of the soul.
I have always been interested in fitness, but as a short, skinny kid consistently picked last on the playground, I was never very confident pursuing it, especially in the weight room. I serendipitously found functional fitness just before I turned 40, and it has transformed my physical life. Unexpectedly, my fitness rhythms have become emotional and spiritual anchors as well. Recently, at age 50, I became a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer. I wish someone had shown me the power of physical fitness when I was younger!
My winding work journey has taken me from corporate settings, small businesses, church ministry, and non-profits. Most recently, I co-founded a non-profit pediatric and behavioral health clinic and served as its Executive Director for over a decade. I also have an MBA from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business and an engineering degree from Princeton University.
I am a seeker, friend, and family man. I think and feel before I speak and am committed to relational honesty. I’ve experienced the transforming power of coaching and fitness in my own life and am eager to share it with you!
